After a busy summer in our Axminster store, it’s finally time for kids to return to school. With every new year, we want to put forward the best version of ourselves. In this blog post, I will share some Back to School shopping suggestions, so you can make shopping small your first step in the right direction.
We made it to September! 2026 has been a long year, but summer has already slipped away. Now it’s time for everyone’s favourite: autumn. Pumpkin spice and Gilmore Girls and Halloween. Then, there’s the dreaded back to school.
Although starting a new era can be scary, back to school shopping can still be fun! And while you’re looking for new bits, why not look for deals locally or from small businesses?
Here’s our back to school product recommendations, all available online and in store at Swish and Flick. I’ve included a couple items for each category so everyone can find something they love ready to go back to school!
Backpacks
Of course you’re going to need something to carry all your books in, and why go for something plain and boring? For youngsters, we love this fun plush axolotl backpack. For older kids, the range of Wednesday backpacks are cool and practical.
Lunchboxes
If you need somewhere to keep your sandwiches safe until lunchtime, try one of these lunchboxes which will also show of your favourite things. If you’re waiting for a Hogwarts letter, this Harry Potter lunch bag may be for you.
Water Bottles
It’s important to stay hydrated at school or uni. This Star Wars water bottle is plastic, shatterproof, and colourful, making it ideal for younger years. If you’re looking for a metal bottle to keep your drinks cool, we have so many Harry Potter designs for you. This is one of my favourites.
Notebooks
Despite what they show you at Hogwarts, we won’t be using rolls of parchment and quills this September. These Hogwarts exercise books come in designs themed around several Hogwarts lessons, to make you feel like you’re really at the magical school. Stationary
